Josiah Hoffman, FSCP, LUTCF

President, Wealth Manger & CCO

Josiah Hoffman leads the Hoffman Capital team with a focus on financial planning and asset management. Known for his keen ability to creatively analyze and illustrate complex financial concepts, Josiah loves to break down complicated issues and educate clients through visual learning experiences. Having worked with industry leaders such as Merrill Lynch, Metlife Securities, and Hefren-Tillotson, Josiah’s experience and knowledge help clients navigate towards effective decisions to protect their financial futures. He advises a variety of high net worth individuals, families and businesses including Small Business owners, PA State Troopers, Physicians, 501(c )(3) organizations, and many others.

Outside the office, Josiah enjoys giving back to the community through active service. He serves on the boards of the Parkinson’s Foundation Western PA & Grace Community Church, while also volunteering in multiple charitable capacities. He, his wife Elissa, and their four children, are members and serve at Grace Community Church in Cranberry Twp, PA. They like to travel, sing, write, play guitar/piano, and host friends and social gatherings at their home in Pine Twp, PA. Josiah is a graduate of Grove City College with a pre-med degree in molecular biology. He holds the FSCP & LUTCF designations, Life & Health Insurance License, and the SEC Series 7, 66 & 24 securities licenses.

Beth Appanaitis

Director of Operations

As the Director of Operations, Beth is responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of the company’s operations, overseeing various key areas such as process optimization, client servicing, and team management. Her exceptional leadership skills and strategic mindset have been instrumental in driving operational efficiency and fostering a client-centric culture within the organization.



Beth’s extensive background in the financial industry has equipped her with a deep understanding of the complexities and challenges that clients face. With a passion for delivering exceptional service, she strives to exceed client expectations and provide tailored solutions to meet their unique financial goals.

In addition to her role at Hoffman Capital, Beth also works with Parkinson Foundation Western Pennsylvania, and in her free time, enjoys golfing and relaxing with her 10-year-old Cavachon, Rosie.

David L. Smith, CPA

Dave Smith is an advisor with a vast amount of industry experience. Dave received his Bachelor of Science Degree and MBA Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Dave and his wife, Donna, live in Cranberry Twp. PA, and serve actively through involvement in their community, church and many other endeavors. In his free time, Dave enjoys staying active through skiing and golf. As a partner in a local CPA firm, (Creese, Smith, Hune & Co. LLC) his primary focus has been on taxation of closely held businesses and individuals. Although he does not provide tax advice through Hoffman Capital Advisors, he has been a phenomenal resource for any complicated tax planning issues our clients may face.

Mike joined Hoffman Financial in 2023, and is assisted by his son Adam. He has owned and operated an insurance agency for decades, providing risk analysis and insurance solutions for clients all over Western PA. He is passionate about asset management and assisting his clients in portfolio construction through active management with the goal of helping them avoid the many pitfalls which are so common to investors. He and his wife Traci, live in Pine Township, PA, and as an owner in Pheasant Ridge golf course, Mike is an avid golfer while also being active in his church and community.
